Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how AI Diet (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the AI Diet mobile application. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
AI Diet is a meal planning and food logging application operated by Scott Bruton. Contact: contact@aidietmobile.com (or use Contact Support inside the app).
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may process:
- Account information — email address, password (handled by our auth provider), display name.
- Profile & health-related inputs you provide — such as age, sex, height, weight, goals, macro targets, taste preferences, dietary restrictions, and kitchen equipment. These are used to personalise plans and suggestions.
- Food & meal data — foods you save, recipes, meal plans, logs, favourites, photos you choose to upload for food recognition, barcodes you scan, and related nutrition values.
- Usage & subscription data — plan tier, in-app purchases, Meal Ticket / Food Coupon balances, and AI feature usage needed to enforce plan limits.
- Device & technical data — app version, basic device identifiers needed for sync and push notifications (if enabled), and network status for online features.
- Support messages — content you send through Contact Support or similar channels.
We do not require you to upload government ID or payment card numbers to us directly. Payments for subscriptions and packs are processed by Apple (or Google, if applicable) through their in-app purchase systems.
3. How we use information
- Provide and sync your meal plans, foods, and logs across your devices.
- Generate AI-assisted recipes, meal plans, snacks, and nutrition estimates when you request them.
- Look up packaged foods (for example via Open Food Facts) when you search or scan barcodes.
- Enforce subscription and allowance limits and restore purchases.
- Send optional meal or account notifications you enable.
- Respond to support requests and improve reliability and safety of the service.
- Comply with law and protect against abuse or fraud.
4. AI processing
When you use AI features (for example meal generation, recipe requests, photo or voice food logging), relevant prompts and content you submit (such as descriptions, selected preferences, or images) are sent to our cloud infrastructure and to our AI service provider (OpenAI) to generate a response. Do not include information in prompts that you do not want processed for that purpose.
5. Who we share information with
We share data only as needed to run the app:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and related backend services.
- OpenAI — AI feature requests you initiate.
- Open Food Facts — when you search or look up barcode products (queries may be sent to their public API).
- Apple / Google — in-app purchase verification and store billing.
- Hosting / email providers — e.g. site hosting for aidiet.cc and transactional email for account confirmation.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Storage, sync, and offline use
The app stores data on your device (including a local database) so many features work offline. When you are online and signed in, data may sync to our servers so it can be restored on other devices. You can request a full data sync or delete your account from Settings where available.
7. Retention
We retain account and synced data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise associated server-side account data in line with our deletion process, except where we must keep limited records for legal, security, or accounting reasons (for example purchase records held by Apple).
8. Your choices and rights
- Update profile, preferences, and notification settings in the app.
- Export or clear local content where the app provides those controls.
- Delete your account from Settings (where available).
- Contact us to ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold.
- Manage App Store subscriptions and purchases in your Apple ID settings.
If you are in a region with additional privacy rights (for example GDPR or CCPA), contact us and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
9. Children
AI Diet is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted transport (HTTPS) and authenticated access to protect data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
11. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours (including the United States). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
